In their report, Skin Cancer Officially Considered an Epidemic in the United States,1 Health News Digest highlights the complete range of VMV HYPOALLERGENICS®’ Armada Sun + Light products. A recently published study in The Archives of Dermatology confirms that non-melanoma skin cancer is, for the first time, considered an epidemic in the United States. “The study’s ‘incidence-based model indicates that the prevalence of a skin cancer history is about 5 times higher than that of breast or prostate cancer and greater than the 31-year prevalence of all other cancers combined.’”2With skin cancer at epidemic proportions, it’s time to break out the big guns. Of course, and we’re proud as punch of this, we’ve been locked and loaded for decades: we began making and testing sunscreens with the then shockingly high SPF of 30 in the late 1980s when SPF 15 was considered over the top—they’ve since come to include SPFs as high as 70-90.
